Okra Haiku
fuzzy pods outside
Hibiscus Esculentus
slime and seeds inside
(my toes in the earth)
the sun on my neck
harvesting before mature,
green pods for gumbo

Commuting 1990
Powerlines-
stretched across the hiway
superimpose themselves on the sky
like some kind of gridwork for God
to scale his clouds by
artwork of white, blue, and shades of grey
later man adds a
the strange beauty of a papermill
nestled in a once virgin forest
Red Tailed Hawk-
Red Tailed Hawk
circling on eddies of air
gazes hungrily
at the fat metal beast
that speeds along the blacktopped scar
cutting through the evergreen corridor
7th Grade Haiku
Rainbows -
Full of bright color
Adding pleasure to life
Filling up the sky
The Sun -
Glowing ball of fire
Gives life to the whole world wide
Yet sits all alone
I Want A Toy Robot
For Christmas
slave mechanisms
doing the master's bidding
vacuum tubes humming
shiny tin plating
pincers and hot antennae
windup feet scurry
Sons

We all resent our fathers
So even as we love them
Strive to be just like them
We promise not to do the things they've done
Thanksgiving, 1991
